Helix - Combined SHO and LRGB Data Sets

The beautiful Helix Nebula also known as "The Eye of God". It is believed to have formed from a very large Supernova explosion around 10,000 years ago. What we see is an expanding shell of material shed from the star known as a Planetary Nebula. All raw elements are formed from nuclear fusion within stars and seeded into space with these dying explosions to eventually become something new. This one has the distinction of being the closest known to Earth. What remains of the original star is now a very dense dwarf star seen exactly in the center of the nebula.

This is a unique thing I have always wanted to try on this nebula. Combining SHO and LRGB data across the entire image to enhance what I felt were the best colors and details from both. This nebula has such strong signal and details unique to each type of data. Kudos to Telescope live for getting great datasets for each.
