R Aquarii, located about 650 light-years away in the constellation Aquarius, is a notable binary star system. This symbiotic variable star consists of a white dwarf and a Mira-type red giant. The red giant regularly sheds material, which the white dwarf pulls in, causing periodic nova-like eruptions. Their interaction creates a distinct visual effect, with the surrounding nebula—known as the R Aquarii Nebula or Cederblad 211—displaying a mix of reddish and bluish colors.
